2009 LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD: VERA VOWELL

The first E&A Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Vera Vowell during the E&A International Aquatic Safety School of 2009.

Vera is a graduate of Texas A&M University, where she received a degree in Kinesiology with a minor in Biology. Vera is presently the Aquatics Supervisor for the City of College Station in College Station, Texas.

She has been with the City for over 24 years. In her spare time Vera enjoys •working• and spending precious amounts of time with her two children and her husband. Vera is an instructor trainer for Jeff Ellis and Associates International Pool and Waterpark Lifeguard training program. Vera began her journey with Jeff Ellis and Associates as a lifeguard. She then took the very first instructor course offered in Dallas, Texas in 1986. She went on to become an auditor and program designer for the Ellis program. Vera attributes her success in aquatics to both the City of College Station and to Jeff Ellis and Associates.

It is through both agencies that she has been able to learn, teach and contribute to the Aquatics Industry. Her latest accomplishment was being able to travel to Dubai and assist in the opening of Atlantis, The Palm Resort in the United Arab Emirates. Vera is dedicated to education, the Aquatics industry and to the mission of reducing the loss of life due to drowning.
