Jeff Ellis Swimming (JES) is a community-based program primarily developed for teaching swimming to children 3 to 10 years old. Its flexible design permits site specific customization that is locally administered, with minimal expense and with minimal time for training quality swimming instructors. The innovative teaching techniques taught through Jeff Ellis Swimming are creatively designed to enhance student learning in a challenging, fun and competitive environment.

Program Overview

Jeff Ellis Swimming is administered on the local level, by an authorized program coordinator, who is responsible for curriculum planning, scheduling classes, overseeing quality control, assuring safety of the participants and for the training of swimming instructors. Swimming instructors conduct the classes under the guidance of the program coordinator, maintaining a ratio of 1-6 students per instructor. Instructors teach all classes using innovative techniques designed personally by Jeff Ellis and supported by JES skill report cards that monitor individual progress. The program affords instructors the opportunity to learn innovative teaching techniques that are proven to accelerate and enhance student progress in mastering strokes and other aquatic skills.

Program Coordinators

Program coordinators are trained, authorized and licensed by Jeff Ellis Swimming to locally administer the program for their aquatic facility. Coordinators are held accountable for consistently maintaining the JES standard of care to assure for student safety and quality learning. All Jeff Ellis Swimming programs are subject to random and independent audit by Jeff Ellis & Associates, Inc. national staff representatives to ensure compliance with program policies and procedures. Program coordinators are also responsible for training and licensing the swimming instructors employed to teach at their aquatic facility. Program Coordinators must be 18 years of age and be able to perform all swimming skills (with instructor level proficiency) taught in each level of Jeff Ellis Swimming. The cost for an original program coordinator license authorization is $225.00 and $175.00 for a renewal license authorization. Program Coordinators are valid for up to two years from the date issued and can be renewed by attending a 4 hour workshop taught by a national staff representative for Jeff Ellis Swimming. Swimming Instructors

Swimming instructors may train to teach in any or all of the four course levels offered by Jeff Ellis Swimming. The prerequisites for training as a JES swimming instructor are very simple: the candidate must be 15 years of age and be able to perform the skills in the level they wish to teach. The cost of the Jeff Ellis Swimming Instructor license is $60.00 for the original training and $30.00 for the renewal training. Jeff Ellis Swimming Instructor licenses are good for one year.

Jeff Ellis Swimming Implementation

Clients who annually retain Jeff Ellis and Associates, Inc. as their aquatic safety provider are automatically eligible to utilize Jeff Ellis Swimming at no additional membership fee. Jeff Ellis Swimming is designed for lifeguard clients only. All JES swimming programs receive random and unannounced quality assurance audits to maintain consistent quality assurance and enhance local program performance.
